Automatic functions of the camera and lenses should not be used. Once that happens the film belongs to the machine and not the filmmaker.

yourawfulshortfilm: Characters crying over exes while looking at old photos is clichéd enough. But it is WAY too soon for characters to be crying over said photos on their iPhone.

Relationship in a rut

Yikes, rough times for indie films... →
Still, the independent films here are in the tens of millions, basically its the riskier ventures being cut off from larger studios as they scale back and move retreat to their tried and true genre films and franchises.  The real downside for films truely made outside the system is with the serious downturn in funding and distribution.
